Torches and consumables

The most common TIG torches are the air-cooled WP-17 and WP-26 and the water-cooled WP-18. The compact WP-9 suits tight spots.

Torch choice depends on the welding current and duty cycle. An air-cooled torch is enough up to about 150 amps for intermittent work; continuous use and higher currents call for water cooling. For MIG torches the equivalent dividing line is around 250 amps.

Spare parts available include collets, collet bodies, back caps, nozzles and necks. Parts are not interchangeable between torches, so check the model marking before ordering – it is usually found on the torch handle or at the base of the neck.
